Nursing Qualifications
To have a valid nursing degree or diploma from their home country. Their qualifications have to be recognized by the Belgian nursing regulatory body.
Language Proficiency
Proficiency in English is a must. Proficiency in Dutch is also essential for effective communication with residents, colleagues, and medical professionals. Therefore it is required to have a minimum level of language proficiency (A1 or A2) for the start and they are obligated to improve it later to at least level C1. A language support will be provided during the preparation time via internet, later on at the place.
Criminal Background Check
A criminal background check is essential ( Will check by Police Clearance Certificate )
References
They have to provide professional references (from their place of work) to confirm their skills, work ethic, and suitability for a role in elderly care.
Cultural Competency
For the candidates it is a must to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
Adaptability
Willingness and ability to adapt to the Belgian healthcare system, policies, and practices.
General readiness
Being in the position and capable mentally to work away for a couple of years (for instance no open issues left at home)
NURSING DUTIES
* Performs, according to or without medical prescription, technical nursing actions, as well as entrusted medical actions;
* If necessary, delegates, within the legislative provisions, the technical nursing activities to the healthcare professionals;
* Observes, identifies and assesses the health status of the assigned residents, detects any changes, anticipates crisis situations and, in case of emergency,
takes the necessary measures on its own initiative while waiting for the doctor;
* Monitors and evaluates residents' parameters (e.g. temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, sugar level);
* According to the medical prescription, prepares the medication, verifies it, administers it and monitors its effects;
* Accompanies the doctor during the patient/resident round and contacts the persons involved if there are any questions;
GENERAL PURPOSE:
* Welcomes the new residents;
* Guides and supports the residents in difficult or emotional moments (such as end-of-life care, severe pain);
* Explains the residents, visitors and informal careers about the state of health of the residents and reassures them;
* Supports the loved ones in processing deaths;
* Listens to the concerns of the residents and has conversations with them; ⦁ Stimulates the residents in finding meaningful daytime activities, in concretely filling them in and in realizing life projects;
* Supervises the activities of living groups;
ACTIVITIES TASKS
* Providing integrated care (nursing and psychosocial) to an assigned group of residents in order to maintain, improve or restore their health and well-being and to promote their autonomy.
* Informing and psychosocial support of residents and relatives
* Helps residents with general daily personal care and hygiene, such as dressing, washing and shaving, and encourages self-reliance;
* Monitors the general comfort of the residents;
* Helps the residents with eating and drinking;
* Provides directions and instructions to the healthcare professionals;
* Draws up the care plan;
* Provides necessary information about residents at team meetings to ensure continuity of care;
* Exchanges information and collaborates with other functions or services (e.g. physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietician);
* Informs the attending physician about the state of health and the physical, psychological and social condition of the residents and consults with him/her about the appropriate treatment;
* Carrying out caring tasks
* Partly ensuring the continuity and quality of care.
* Carrying out administrative resident-related tasks
* registers the data of the residents and the nursing actions performed;
* Keep the nursing file of the residents up to date;
* Other activities
* Helps with household tasks, such as preparing and distributing meals and making beds;
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Training in accordance with the legal requirements applicable to the performance of the position;

- Discusses the health status of the residents and the treatment to be carried out with colleagues, the hierarchical manager, the doctor and other care providers;
- Intervenes in emergency situations while waiting for the doctor, taking into account the applicable procedures and protocols;
- Handles confidential information discreetly; Troubleshooting Responsibility
- Has practical knowledge of medical material;
- Can work with the specific IT applications; 6 to 12 months
- Daily contact with dirt, bad smells, dust or excrement from people;
- Occasional contact with infectious diseases;
- Working on a screen (<80%) is required to perform the job;
- Heavy loads have to be moved daily;
- Prolonged standing posture is required for the performance of the function;
- The work requires daily force or work in an uncomfortable position;
- Daily personal contact with illness, suffering or death;
- Regular contact with verbally or physically aggressive persons;
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The position offers a 1-3 year working contract at the beginning depending of the rules; however the length of the actual residential permit is determined by the authorities. The employer will prolong the working contract upon their satisfaction with the applicant.
How you bring to Belgium
The employment can be in one or two steps depending on the situation.
The one-step employment supposes a direct employment to Belgium.
The two-step employment supposes to be employed by a Hungarian company and working in Belgium as a posted worker approximately for a year, and applying to Belgian residential permit and being employed by a Belgian company from the second year.
The position requires a 250-500 EUR proceeding fee of the authorities during the procedure and 2.500 EUR insurance deposit before recruiting procedure is being started and also an insurance deposit with a total amount of 5.000 EUR being credited from the actual salary by 200 EUR monthly payments. The total amount of the 7.500 EUR insurance deposit shall be returned to the worker after the two years contract properly fulfilled by him.
